I am Pro-Family. My wife and I have three children. I believe the family is the foundation of our society and any legislation passed should strengthen and not harm the family.
I am 100% Pro-Life. I believe life begins at the moment of conception and as such should be afforded equal protection under the law. My record is clear on this issue, I believe in the God given right of the unborn child to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That is why I have been the proud co-sponsor of many bills protecting the life of the unborn including the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act of 2013, HB1037 banning abortions in AR after 20 weeks of pregnancy, and the Arkansas Human Heartbeat Protection Act of 2013, SB134 banning abortions in AR after the first trimester once a heartbeat is detected. (See links below) After we overrode a governor’s veto on both bills, these new laws make Arkansas one of the most Pro-Life states in the country.
I am Pro-Marriage. I believe in traditional marriage that is between one man and one woman.
I am the only Representative in the State of Arkansas House of Representatives to have run a resolution in 2013 HR1049 and passed by the House of Representatives Affirming Traditional Marriage as defined in Amendment 83 to our AR Constitution. This was passed on the day the US Supreme Court was hearing the Defense of Marriage case and was sent to the President of the United States, the Vice President of the United States, the President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the United States Supreme Court, the chief executive officer of each legislative chamber for each of the fifty (50) state legislatures within the United States, and each member of the Arkansas Congressional Delegation.
Jobs and the Economy:
I am Pro-Business.
I have fought to enact legislation that lowers the regulatory burdens on businesses, especially small businesses in Arkansas. This creates an environment for the free market to work and encourages investment in our state. The economic boost from that investment will create jobs in Bentonville as well as the entire state of Arkansas.
I have fought to make sure taxes are as low as possible on everyone co-sponsoring and voting for over $310 million in annualized tax cuts since being in office, reducing the tax burden of every Arkansas.
Just like every other area of government, decisions need to be made locally by people who are affected by those decisions. We need to return decisions on education to the local level. Education is a critical element in making sure our future is bright and limitless. That is why, over the years, I have been the leading voice in the Arkansas legislature on empowering parents to choose how to best direct their children’s education in the way that will fit their students unique learning needs.
I strongly support the fiscal discipline that goes into making a balanced budget. It is hard to hold budgets in check, no matter what size the budget is, but the simple principle of not spending more than you take in, works at every level.
As a life time member of the National Rifle Association I have worked hard to defend your right to keep and bear arms and will continue to fight against any effort to infringe upon that right.
Our national heritage is rich as the melting pot of immigrants from all over the world. I welcome legal immigrants who come to America in search of a better life. However illegal immigration is a burden on our state and drag on our economy. I will not vote for legislation that encourages illegal immigration in Arkansas.
